046 :: Stalking the Wild Asparagus
Monday, 23 April 2007
Stalking the Wild Asparagus by Euell Gibbons was one of the first popular books exploring wild food in America.  Gibbons sought out wild plants all over North America and made them into delicious dishes. His book has recipes for vegetable and casserole dishes, breads, cakes, muffins and twenty different pies. He also shows how to make jellies, jams, teas, and wines, and how to sweeten them with wild honey or homemade maple syrup.

Yum.

Music wise we are foraging for some distant musical memories, with Amorphous Androgynous, B12 and a little something from the 1993 Redcell:Stasis album, some lovely memory evoking music...

Hidden Secrets
Sunday, 01 April 2007
Dear Friends of Premonitions by Plants. Like clockwork, the show has been available on a Monday morning (Australian time) at midnight but over the last few weeks i have lost my rhythm. So to appease those of you whose appetite for the show seems voracious, I have made the back-catalogue available for those who have registered on the site. If you have registered, all you have to do is log in, go to the podcast page and you will be rewarded. If you have any problems with this please let me know.

Thanks for supporting the show and for all your feedback, I will endeavour to find my rhythm again and continue to serve up treats from my musical garden.

044 :: Go Forth and Germinate!
Thursday, 22 March 2007
The sprouting adventure continues on Premonitions by Plants. This week i have germinated a variety of different sprouts, radish, mustard, alfalafa, and wheat grass. The results have been astounding! Its amazing how fast they all grow. By far my favourite looking sprout has been the wheatgrass, as it looks striking and smells fresher than any grassy perfume you can buy from Calvin Klein. So this weeks podcast is infected with the spirit of sprouting. Go forth...!

043 :: Sprouts and Sprites
Monday, 12 March 2007
This week features a couple of new discoveries. Last month during my virtual wanders, i stumbled upon a great label called Digitalis, and promptly bought a double cd from one of the artists on their roster, Hush Arbors. I thoroughly recommend a romp through their catalogue for some real gems. I also fell in love with the Japanese band Mono this week, maybe its just an infatuation, but i am hooked, and somehow the two bands created the foundation for this weeks mix. Co-incidentally this week I started an experiment growing different types of sprouts on varied surfaces, and my first batch got a dose of this weeks podcast right at germination time, and they seem to be ok, so i think you will be too.
