Eavesdropping on a symphony
Saturday, 27 January 2007

I have been busy this month helping my good friend Gavin Lockley complete his symphony, which was recorded at Trackdown Scoring Stage this week. It has been an incredibly eye opening experience, to watch the work evolve from a few midi files and chunky scores to a fully fledged symphony. Now i have a fair idea just what it takes to realise such a mammoth dream. Gavin has taken it all in his stride, working with a conductor, the orchestra, streams of soloists, the engineers, and various onlookers took a level of concentration and patience I believe very few people have. My input to his piece has ranged from technical advice, to sound design and lending a critical ear. All in all, this has been a rare opportunity to look, listen and learn.

I recently completed the sound design for this play. Fantastic cast and crew, exquisitely written, visionary direction by Scott Patterson, it was a pleasure to be involved. A gripping theatre experience, go check it out.
