Soldering circuits part 2 - motion sensors and sound

April 8th, 2007

Since the last post all our circuits have got smaller and more compact. The project shown here is amplifier circuits playing tiny mp3 players through little speakers, triggered by motion sensors. The whole lot is then stuck on the back of a frame. While dan has been focusing on the motion detector aspect, I have been working on making speaker cups, and sounds for the installation. Of course my kitchen is always an inspiring place to find bits and pieces for music (just wait till you see the instrument i am building) and I found our cocktail shaker lids were perfect resonators for the speakers and come complete with holes already drilled in them so i can easily mount them onto any surface. Ebay has been a great resource for cheap mp3 players. Next step is to finish the motion sensors, and mount them, along with the speakers/amp/mp3 player on the frames.
