Memories of Miss Memory

The Sky is Falling @ Angel Place

October 7th, 2008

Seems like there is always so much going on at this time of the year, isn’t there? This project is one that I really adored working on, a laneway’s installation for Art and About using the Chicken Little theme of “the Sky is Falling” (which considering the current economic situation is quite apt don’t you think?) with space debris and my contribution of strange space blips and zaps whipping up and down Angel Place held in place by beautiful cloud balloons. See artist impression below.

The exhibition starts on 4th October and should run for a few months. Will stick up a post with some pics when it all gets up and running.

Brain Controlled Musical Instrument

September 26th, 2008

Come along to Electrofringe in Newcastle next week and check out the very first public demonstration of the “brain-controlled musical instrument”, a project I have been researching with collaborator Scott Eggert. On Friday 3rd October at 3:30pm-5:00pm @ University House - Seminar 2 [UNH 1.38], we will be demonstrating the instrument and discussing our research and future plans for a brain controlled MIDI device/instrument. On Saturday 4th we will be joined by visual artist Mat McCosker and will be using the instrument in a performance with the music and visual being generated by the brain.

Pictures from an exhibition

May 4th, 2007

Big big big thanks to Dan, Kirsten, Jen and Carolyn for making my first exhibition a positive experience. Lots has been learned, and the seeds have been sown. Art is something I have aspired to create and display, but for so long the aspiration has gone unquenched due to various reasons, mostly the belief that my ideas are too kooky, complex or they would never work in a traditional gallery, or that musicians are not “real” artists (where could I have possibly got that idea from?) but all thats needed to change that is some bravery, a little money, and good support networks. Thanks also to all who came to the opening night and the exhibition during its stay at Don’t Look Gallery. Now, on with the photos
